IPL Skin Rejuvenation Aftercare

  • Please cleanse and moisturise using only the products prescribed by your therapist. Stop using all exfoliating products, including Vitamin A, for five days after treatment.

  • After 5 days, reintroduce your full regime and continue using it if you do not feel any increased sensitivity in your skin.

  • Sunscreen is very important and should be applied daily, including immediately after treatment.

  • During the treatment period, avoid sun exposure and tanning lotions (we need your skin to be at its true tone)

  • It is normal for the pigment to ‘milo’ this means pigment will darken, come to the surface and slough off over days 3-5 post-treatment. Please do not "help" the skin by picking at this or attempting to exfoliate it away. It is part of the skin's healing process to flake naturally.

  • Avoid heat treatments such as sauna, steam, spas, etc., and avoid excessive exercise (as this heats up the body) for 4-5 days after treatment.

What can downtime look like after IPL?

Immediately after your IPL treatment, your skin can feel warm; this is normal. You can apply cold compresses to help calm this down.
Within the first 24 hours, you may experience heat and swelling, and your pigment may darken.
Within days 4-7, the pigment will lift and flake off, and the swelling and redness will have reduced. Please contact the salon and speak to your therapist if you have any concerns or questions.
